Fostering civil dialogue in the community, Luther College senior Elizabeth Wiebke spent the summer interning with the Frank Zeidler Center for Public Discussion in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Luther College senior Megan Oliver spent the summer interning with Hälsa International in Togo, “a non-governmental organization based in West Africa that provides free access to education and health care to underprivileged children.”

Luther College junior Kristen Hansen spent the summer interning in Rochester, Minnesota, with the Jeremiah Program, a company that promotes “transforming families from poverty to prosperity two generations at a time.”

Studying the fish of Minnesota’s lakes, Luther senior Noah Amundson of Owatonna, Minnesota, spent the summer as a fisheries intern for the Minnesota DNR in Brainerd.

Engaging with both children and hospital patients, Luther College senior Tiwonge Chirwa of Lilongwe, Malawi, spent the summer as a health care coordinator at Camp Hiawatha and Camp Vermillion, and as an intern at Cook Hospital in Cook, Minnesota.

Luther College junior Phuong-Anh Hoang spent her summer at Deloitte Vietnam as a tax intern. The company Deloitte is one of the “Big Four” accounting organizations and the leading professional service network in the world and Deloitte Vietnam, was recently named by “HR Asia Magazine” as one of the best companies to work for in Asia.

Luther College junior Michael Winkler was presented the 2018 Hemp Family Prize, at Luther’s Homecoming concert, Sunday, Oct. 28. The Hemp Family Prize was one of four awards announced during the concert.

Luther College senior Brenna Sherman of Rochester, Minnesota, is Luther’s 2018 Presser Undergraduate Scholar Award recipient.

“Reacting to the Past†games are designed to create a fun and engaging way for students of all ages to understand foreign cultures and global citizenship. For her summer research project, Luther College senior Katrina Meyer of Mount Prospect, Illinois, created historically based role-playing simulations in order to stimulate and to engage students in the learning of modern languages.

Luther College junior Elisabeth do Rosário Vicente spent the summer as an intern at the Ministry of Planning and Finance in Timor-Leste in southeast Asia.
