Nursing major Duong Truong uses liberal arts education and Luther College research grants to study health care abroad

Luther College nursing major Duong Truong, class of 2024, spent his summer researching a Buddhist hospital in Taiwan and helping set up nursing school scholarships for Catholic nuns in Vietnam.

Luther College announces that 11 students received scholarships through the TRIO Achievement Program for the 2023-24 school year.

More than 600 Luther students made the Dean’s List for spring 2023.

More than 600 high school and middle school students attended, up from 500 students in 2022.

“At Luther, we have a long tradition of preparing students for a future in the various disciplines of engineering,” said Todd K. Pedlar, professor of physics. “In our new program, we’ll serve such students even more completely.”

Luther’s first-year tenor and bass choir was the only college choir selected for this competitive convention.

The medal is presented each year to an outstanding senior, selected by the graduating class, who best demonstrates the ideals of the college through service to students and the college community.

Sadie Pichelmann, Gideon Perez and Berit Skogen will serve and connect with communities in Slovakia and in Norway.

The Austrian-American Educational Commission has selected Luther College senior Joshua Hartl of Oskaloosa, Iowa, as a U.S. Teaching Assistant (USTA) in Austria for the 2023-24 academic year.

Nguyen will receive $5,000 from the Thomas D. Rossing Fund for Physics Education for the 2023-24 academic year.
