A student-faculty duo takes a look back in time at the choir’s rich history.

Peter Lingen, Luther College teaching associate in music, will perform a recital at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 18, in Luther’s Noble Recital Hall in the Jenson-Noble Hall of Music. Lingen’s performance repertoire includes works by Paul Fetler, William Walton, and Domenico Scarlatti.

Carol Hester, Luther College professor of music, will perform a recital titled “The Flute and Dietrich Bonhoeffer,” inspired by the German theologian and pastor’s connections to the flute. Luther faculty members Xiao Hu, piano, Philip Borter, cello, and Igor Kalnin, violin, join Hester in the recital at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9, in the Noble Recital Hall of the Jenson-Noble Hall of Music on the Luther campus.

A group of eight Luther College trumpet players competed in March at the National Trumpet Competition at the University of North Texas, Denton, Texas. The group was given exceptional reviews but did not advance to the semifinals as an octet. The ensemble consisted of senior Liam Fraser; juniors Curtis Cook, Madison Ihde, Sarah Lodge, Chelsey Schmeling and Michael Winkler; and sophomores Chloe Beck and Marya Haughland.
Luther College senior Charles Craig will give the Richard C. and Joann M. Hemp Family Prize Recital at 4 p.m. Sunday, March 18, in Luther’s Noble Recital Hall in Jenson-Noble Hall of Music. At Luther’s Homecoming concert last fall, Craig received the 2017 Hemp Family Prize.
