The Parker

The Parker is a stylish, gray, brick building in the heart of downtown Rochester, Minnesota.

The Parker offers a unique living opportunity for Luther students who are involved in the nursing program, Rochester Semester Program, and student teachers and social work intern students based on availability.

Luther College leases 38 micro-units for student housing at The Parker building located in downtown Rochester. The purpose of this housing option is to create an atmosphere similar to living in a residence hall, though embedded within Rochester. Rochester is a diverse and dynamic city that is a global medical destination where Luther students have the opportunity to gain valuable hands-on training in a real world environment.

Residence Features

  • Each room has a private restroom/shower, microwave, small refrigerator, 32 inch smart TV, built-in closet, bed, mattress, desk, desk chair, and dresser
  • Housing includes all utilities and WiFi
  • Controlled outside card access system
  • Large commercial kitchen that includes stoves, ovens, refrigerators/freezers, microwave, cookware, dishware, and a variety of cooking appliances
  • Coin-operated washers and dryers
  • Rochester Transit with a bus stop located nearby
  • Access to the nearest Skywalk entry point across the street
  • A lovely walking and biking trail is located two blocks from The Parker that runs throughout the city

Room Types/Room Draw

All micro-units at The Parker are single-person units. A room draw process for double rooms for nursing majors is held in early May using the room draw card system. Rochester internship students are housed early summer after internships are finalized. Any remaining units will be used by student teachers and social work internship students. 

A small lounge with two couches, a chair, a coffee table, and a dining set can be used by Parker residents as a small group gathering space.

The kitchen in the Parker has instapots, an electric kettle, a keurig, a toaster, a blender, pots, pans, and stainless steel counter space for residents to use to prepare their meals.
