KWLC is Luther College’s historic AM radio station, first broadcasting on December 18, 1926. Here in the little basement that rocks, KWLC provides students the opportunity to explore live radio production with hands-on experience operating broadcasting equipment. Students can sign up for an on-air timeslot and jam out while sharing their unique music selections or talking points. In addition to the switchboard, KWLC houses an extensive physical media music library and a recording studio (open for students to use!).
As of 2025, KWLC has restructured as a student organization with student leaders taking charge of operating and maintaining the station. Our programming reflects the larger mission of the college, providing music and information programs dedicated to promoting the liberal arts. From jazz to rock to world to classical music, from sports to religious worship services to all-college events, KWLC serves a variety of audiences on campus, in Decorah, and beyond. Give us a listen
