Room Draw
Room draw is the process by which Luther College students who currently live on campus select campus housing for the upcoming academic year. There are many different housing options available to students at Luther, so the best advice we can offer is to take your time, research all the choices by visiting the buildings, follow the guidelines, and ask questions. The more knowledge you have about room draw and about specific application procedures, the better you will be able to make informed decisions about your housing options.
Students will be assigned a random computer-generated room draw number based on the academic year they entered Luther College. Transfer students will be assigned a random computer-generated room draw number based on the number of transfer credit hours and college start date. This new system still gives next year’s seniors priority in selecting housing options, then juniors, and then sophomores.
Students will receive a room draw card in their Luther College student post office box on Friday, February 6, 2026, that has their room draw number on the card. Please keep this card as students will need it to participate in selecting a room. The random computer-generated number will be used for the entire room draw process. Each entering class year will be assigned a different room draw card color. Only students with yellow and blue cards will be able to apply for Baker Village, College Apartments with Kitchens, and the Prairie Houses. Any card color can be used for the other draw processes.
- Students that entered Luther College before fall 2022 will receive yellow room draw cards.
- Students that entered Luther College in the fall of 2023 will receive blue room draw cards.
- Students that entered Luther College in the fall of 2024 will receive green room draw cards.
- Students that entered Luther College in the fall of 2025 will receive orange room draw cards.
- Transfer students will receive a card color based on their academic standing year at Luther College.
Luther College offers a variety of different housing options for students. Therefore, during the room draw process there are several different housing applications. Students should pay special attention to the Room Draw Dates.
The 2026-2027 Room Draw Booklet is a detailed summary of the room draw process, dates, and housing options. An open house will be held in the Residence Life office from 2:00 pm. – 4:00 p.m. on Friday, February 6, 2026. Students are invited to stop in at that time to ask questions. If you have additional questions, you can stop by the Residence Life office at a different time, call 563-387-1330, or email reslife@luther.edu.
