Adobe Creative Cloud

Adobe Creative Cloud (a.k.a. Adobe CC) is a unified suite of powerful applications for graphic design, video editing, web development, photography, and more.

Current students, faculty, and staff have access to the Adobe suite when using Luther-owned computers, and employees can also install a copy onto their personal device.

The most commonly used applications within the Creative Cloud suite include:

  • Adobe Acrobat, for viewing, printing, merging, and editing PDF files
  • Photoshop, for creating and altering images
  • Premiere, for editing video
  • Illustrator, for graphic design
  • Audition, for creating, mixing, and editing audio content
  • InDesign, for creating flyers, brochures, and other publications

Access

Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Acrobat are pre-installed on lab/classroom computers, while faculty/staff workstations come with Photoshop and Acrobat.

Students who want to use other applications in the Creative Cloud suite should visit the Digital Media Center on the lower level of Preus Library (100A) where many more applications are available. Faculty and staff can install any program from the Adobe Creative Cloud suite through the Creative Cloud desktop application—That app is preinstalled on workstations and can be downloaded directly from Adobe for their personal devices.

The first time you use an Adobe Creative Cloud application on a given computer, you’ll need to sign in using your Norse Key. Choose to “Sign in with an Enterprise ID”, using your Luther email address. You’ll then be directed through our Microsoft MFA single-sign-on process.

Electronic signatures

Adobe Acrobat can be used to create, distribute, and track signable PDF files—Recipients can sign, even if they don’t have Acrobat. To begin, navigate to the “Fill and Sign” section within Acrobat. Check out this demo to see the feature in action or visit Adobe’s documentation or tutorials for a step-by-step guide.

Having problems? Before you contact the Technology Help Desk, here’s a quick fix for two common problems:

  • If you’re having trouble opening the file within Acrobat, find the file on your computer, right-click it, and choose “Open With…” to force opening with Acrobat instead of your default PDF viewer.
  • If you are able to open within Acrobat but can’t access the Fill and Sign section, make sure to choose “Enable All Features” when prompted.

More info

To learn how to use applications from the Creative Cloud suite, we recommend Adobe’s own tutorials or LinkedIn Learning, a vast collection of how-to videos available to current Luther students, faculty, and staff. If you’d like hands on assistance, the Digital Media Center can help.

Because Luther College is part of the Iowa Association of Independent Colleges and Universities (IAICU) Adobe ETLA, Luther faculty and staff can be assigned a Named User license which allows them to be logged in to up to 2 machines running Creative Cloud for which they are the primary user. Those who are interested in this option need to contact the Technology Help Desk.
