Give Now

Mark your calendar for Luther's ninth annual Giving Day on Thursday, March 7, 2024!

Giving Day is Luther’s largest one-day fundraising event, when people around the world come together to celebrate and support what they love about Luther.

On Giving Day, when you celebrate your Luther experience—and the parts of Luther you love the most—your generosity is magnified. With matching dollars available throughout the day, it’s the perfect way to celebrate Luther and invest in what’s at the heart of this special place: our students.

Participation is powerful! Whether you’re making a gift, connecting with a student on campus or sharing on social media, you’re actively helping students. It’s a community effort powered by caring and passionate Norse like you.

Ways you can get involved:

Giving Day isn’t until March 7, but you can make your gift anytime!

Your early gift will count toward Giving Day totals. And since it’s for Giving Day, it will also be matched dollar-for-dollar by the Gnome Team!

Be part of the magic of Giving Day by joining the Gnome Team!

The Gnome Team is the group of generous donors who have given $2,500 or more to The Luther Fund during the current fiscal year (since June 1, 2023). Together, their Luther Fund gifts create the pool of matching dollars that make Giving Day the exciting, successful day for Luther and our students that we’ve come to celebrate.

To learn if you’ve qualified for the Gnome Team, call Allie Scott, Director of Annual Giving & Engagement, at 563-387-1100. To make a qualifying gift, visit givenow.luther.edu.

You already know that Giving Day is all about big-hearted Norse making great things happen – and some of the biggest-hearted Norse sign up to be Gnome-fluencers: Giving Day social media volunteers!

Interested? Here’s what you can expect:

  • Show Luther spirit: Sport your favorite Luther gear, pose with your peeps, and share what you love about your Luther experience.
  • Inspire others to give: When you bring more people together, you inspire others to join in. The more people participate in Giving Day, the more resources and opportunities we can provide for student success.
  • Get swag: We’ll send you a digital toolkit with messages, images, and suggestions for how to get creative. You’ll also receive some exclusive Giving Day swag in the mail as a special prop (and thank you!).

Are you in? Sign up to be a gnome-fluencer today!

Need more details? Contact Steph Tomlin ’09 with any questions.

The Landing Market in Decorah is celebrating Luther’s Giving Day with their own generous offer – 100% of all sales made on Thursday, March 7 will be matched with an equal gift to The Luther Fund! So when you pick up great coffee at The Buzz or a meal at Justin’s, know that your purchase is supporting a local business and making an impact on campus at the same time.

Stop by anytime between 8 a.m. and 7 p.m. – the gnomes will be there to greet you!

Find the Facebook event here.

During your last semester on campus, you and over 100 of your classmates made the decision to give back to Luther by May 2024 (remember the blue cords you wore at graduation? That’s from the Senior Giving campaign!) Giving Day is the perfect day to fulfill your promise.

There’s lots of ways to maximize your gift on Giving Day. For example:

  • As a young alum, any donation of $10 or more will unlock $200!
  • Your volunteer service can transform into dollars for Luther! For every service hour you log on Giving Day, our Gnome Team will donate $10 to Luther (up to 10 hours/$100).
  • And that’s before we remind you that any gift you make that day will be doubled. If you give during a power hour, your gift will be tripled!

One last reason to give on Giving Day: you can give in honor of someone who shaped your Luther experience. We’ll share your thoughtfulness with that person, and connect you both with an email that same day. We bet you have updates on what’s happened since last May they’d love to hear!

On Giving Day, every single gift to the Luther Fund is matched by our generous Gnome Team. But there are even more ways to maximize your gift on Giving Day.

  • If you’re a young alum (Class of 2014-2023), any donation of $10 or more will unlock $200!
  • Volunteer service can transform into dollars for Luther! For every service hour you log on Giving Day, our Gnome Team will donate $10 to Luther (up to 10 hours/$100).
  • Once Luther receives at least one gift from all 50 states, we collectively unlock an additional $10,000!

What’s more: when you give during a specific power hour, your gift can be TRIPLED! Take a look at the power hour schedule below to decide when you’ll make your gift (or gifts!):
