OLGA JUSTINE ROE TANDE BELGUM, of San Luis Obispo, Calif., and formerly of Thousand Oaks, Calif., passed from this life to the next Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013, at age 92, having reaffirmed her knowledge that "God is good" and her family waits for her in heaven. Born on a Montana homestead in 1920 and raised in the small town of Scobey, Mont., she married GERHARD BELGUM ‘36 in 1942. They had been married 37 years at the time Gerhard passed away in 1979. She lost her son, Christian John, in 1980, and grandson, Christopher in 2004. Despite her sorrow, she moved on and started a new career at age 58 at California Lutheran University and then at the Oxnard Maritime Museum. After she retired at 75, she served as a docent at the Ronald Reagan Museum for several years. She received the Distinguished Service Award from California Lutheran College in 1993. She adored her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her Christian faith and her family were her rocks, and she was an inspiration to us all. Olga leaves behind children, Stephen (Karen), Jeanne (John), Mark (Nikki) and Lee; grandchildren Jennifer, Joel, Deanna, Lindsay, Stephanie, Jamie, Sarah, Rachel and Nicholas; great-grandchildren, Ruby, Tessa, Jessica, Nevaeh, Faith, Alexis, Tatum, Gauge, Reid and Gray. Her sister, Donna; and many nieces and nephews will miss her greatly as well. Olga will be laid to rest with Gerhard and Christian at Riverside National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Employee Fund at Sydney Creek Care Center, 1234 Laurel Lane, San Luis Obispo, CA 93401, whose caregivers and nursing staff tenderly and with great skill provided her with a loving home for the last years of her life.
