ARLEN ZEMKE, 71, of Diamondhead, Miss., passed away on Feb. 24, 2013, in Diamondhead, Miss. Arlen was born on Oct. 14, 1941, in Glenwood, Minn. After graduating from high school in 1959 he attended Luther College in Decorah, Iowa, and graduated in 1963 with a B.A. degree. In 1964 he volunteered for the draft and served in the U.S. Army until June 1966. He became a vice president of Glenwood State Bank in his hometown of Glenwood. At the age of 52 he and several friends moved to the Bay St. Louis, Miss., area where he managed the Casino Magic RV Park and Marina. He rented in several locations in the area, but his final apartment was on a golf course in Diamondhead, Miss. His love of golf, bowling, his job and the outdoors was his life. Having never married, his family was his many, many, friends he made while enjoying the sports he loved. Everyone knew him as “Z.” He is survived by a brother, GEORGE ZEMKE ‘60. He was preceded in death by his parents, George H. and Eva Zemke.
