The Norse Microgrant is designed to help students with unexpected expenses that could disrupt their ability to succeed in the classroom and on campus.
Norse Microgrant
The Norse Microgrant provides short-term help for students facing unexpected expenses that could affect their success at Luther. Grants are meant to support you through graduation, not post-graduation opportunities.
- Awards are based on need and available funds.
- Most grants are $200-500, usually with a maximum of $500 per year.
- Students are usually eligible once per academic year.
- Funds do not need to be repaid.
To apply, complete the form below. A staff member will follow up with you and may consult with the Office of Financial Aid. (This process is separate from financial aid applications.)
Please note: grants may be considered taxable income and could need to be reported to the IRS.

Norse Microgrant Process
Submit the form below to be considered for a microgrant. You will be contacted to meet with an appropriate staff to discuss your circumstance; then, they will consult with campus partners, including the Office of Financial Aid. This fund is not associated with the financial aid application process. Financial aid applicants who have special circumstances that relate directly to the financial aid process should contact the Office of Financial Aid.
Emergency funding may create a taxable event that could require reporting to the IRS by the recipient.
