Request a Refund

If you owe money, your statement will show a balance.  If your account is overpaid, your statement will show a credit- indicated by a negative number – and you may be eligible for a refund.

Credits

There are two types of credits on your student account- an anticipated credit and an actual credit.  Anticipated credits are funds you expect to receive, while actual credit has already been applied to your account.  Both reduce the balance due on your bill.

If you are receiving financial aid (scholarships, grants, loans, etc), this aid can’t be applied to the account until ten days prior to the start of the term due to federal regulations.

Requesting a Refund

You can request a refund by emailing studentaccounts@luther.edu or calling 563-387-1015.

We encourage students to sign up for direct deposit so that they receive their refunds faster.  Sign up for Direct Deposit on Norse Hub by choosing “Banking Information” and adding an account for “Refunds, Reimbursements, and Payments”.  Step-by-step instructions can be found on the IT webpage.

After the refund has been processed, funds will be sent to your bank account or a check will be available at the cashier window.  Please bring your student ID to pick up your check.
