Luther College graduate Sameer Dixit will speak about his extensive career in public health in Nepal at 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 25, in Valders Hall of Science Room 206 on Luther’s campus.
Through her senior project, Luther College alumna Maggie (Steinberg) Hagen examined Luther’s history during key racialized moments in American history. That research led Hagen to delve further into the archives to understand the tensions she felt in her community during current historical moments.
Recent Luther College graduate Kristen Carlson was selected for a 2018-19 Fulbright U.S. Student Award to Latvia from the U.S. Department of State and the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board. Carlson will support the teaching of English at JÄzeps VÄ«tols Latvian Music Academy and Riga Teika Secondary School in Riga, Latvia, as part of a Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship.
Luther College President Paula Carlson announced that Luther alumni Chris Gade and Chip Norris will join Luther’s Board of Regents.
Luther College has awarded Houda Abadi from Atlanta, Georgia, the Young Alumni Award for 2018. Abadi, Luther class of 2003, is currently serving as the associate director for the Middle East and North Africa Conflict Resolution Program at The Carter Center in Atlanta, Georgia.
