Luther alumnae Kristen Carlson selected for a 2018-19 Fulbright U.S. Student Award
Recent Luther College graduate Kristen Carlson was selected for a 2018-19 Fulbright U.S. Student Award to Latvia from the U.S. Department of State and the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board. Carlson will support the teaching of English at JÄzeps VÄ«tols Latvian Music Academy and Riga Teika Secondary School in Riga, Latvia, as part of a Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship.
Luther College President Paula Carlson announced that Luther alumni Chris Gade and Chip Norris will join Luther’s Board of Regents.
Luther College has awarded Houda Abadi from Atlanta, Georgia, the Young Alumni Award for 2018. Abadi, Luther class of 2003, is currently serving as the associate director for the Middle East and North Africa Conflict Resolution Program at The Carter Center in Atlanta, Georgia.
“Those Who Can Do Teach,” a series of mixed-media works by Luther College recent alumni art educators, will be on display in the Preus Library April 12 through May 27. The artists involved include Micayla Irmiter, class of 2014; Jenna Darsee, Jenny Bonnell and Katie Mathis, class of 2015; Lars Johnson and Robin Schone Hengesteg, class of 2016; and Maxwell Green, class of 2017.

Luther College alumnus Steve Demuth, chief technology officer and head of the office of IT strategy and architecture at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, will present “Digital Medicine: Why Doctors and Computer Scientists Increasingly Need Each Other,” at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 9, in the Franklin W. Olin Room 102 on the Luther campus.
