Our Mission

The Office of Student Success (OSS) is committed to educating, empowering, and helping students succeed on campus and beyond. The Office of Student Success implements high-impact retention initiatives and targeted faculty and staff development to create opportunities to strengthen students’ academic abilities and self-advocacy, while supporting their personal growth, future goals, and sense of belonging and connection.

File an SOS Referral

Submitting an SOS Referral is a way for faculty, staff, and students to notify OSS when students are experiencing academic or personal difficulties. The referral will then be triaged and sent to appropriate departments creating a ‘circle of care’ for the student.

While the SOS Referral system is a retention strategy, it is required that professors only use this tool when all other means of contacting the student has been unsuccessful.

Some reasons to file an SOS Referral include when a student:

  • Frequently does not attend class
  • Lacks engagement
  • Earns a low grade and tutoring is recommended
