About the Camp

Answer the call to adventure in an epic 3-day fantasy tabletop roleplaying game at our first ever 20-Sided Summer Camp at Luther College!

From Friday, June 26th to Sunday, June 28th heroes will take part in a camp-wide campaign where all participants have a chance to shape the quest. How will your party handle the impending doom? Rise as heroes of the realm? Sacrifice yourselves for the greater good? Or will your party selfishly seek rewards all on their own, leveraging power and influence to remake the world while everyone else handles that silly little apocalypse.

This camp is for any player – whether you’re completely new or you have some experience already, we’ll have a game for you. Camp will also feature workshops in model painting, terrain building, story and character design, alongside other gaming activities.

Campers will be asked to fill out a brief survey as part of the registration process. This survey will help us sort you into roleplaying groups and give us a sense of the types of characters you might be interested in playing.

Between tabletop roleplaying and hobby based workshops, this camp combines storytelling, art, and strategy to develop critical thinking, communication, teamwork, and creativity—skills that directly support academic success and intellectual growth.

  • Figure Model Painting: Campers will learn painting techniques for miniature figure models. Unpainted models will be provided. Campers are welcome to bring their own 1:28 or 1:32 scale models if they wish from any style of game setting in or beyond D&D.
  • Terrain Making: Campers will learn to make simple miniature terrain models from common materials on a budget to enhance the immersive experience of tabletop gaming.  All materials and tools will be provided.
  • Character/Story Development: Campers will learn ways to general interesting characters, NPC’s and adversaries along with techniques to create interesting campaign narratives and story arcs.
  • Board Games/Open Play: This open play session will have a variety of tabletop and board games for campers to try out. These games range across many genres from Fantasy, SciFi, Horror, etc.
