Bike Share and Bike Fixit Station

Bike Share Rules

• Patrons must sign a liability waiver to participate in the Bike Share program. You only have to sign the waiver the first time you check out a bike.
• Bikes are a 4-hour checkout or due back before the library closes (which may be less than 4 hours). However, overnight checkouts are permitted for bikes checked out on Friday and Saturday afternoons upon request, since the library closes at 5:30 when school is in session on those days.
• No renewals are allowed (one checkout per day per student), but due times can be extended upon request and availability.
• $1/hour fine accrues on late bike returns. 
• A bike helmet is required with each bike checkout. If a patron does not have a helmet of their own, they must accept one from the circulation desk. 
• A tire pump is located at the Bike Fixit Station next to the Bike Share racks. The station also provides a variety of wrenches, screwdrivers, and other bicycle-related tools. It is available for use with any bike, Bike Share or otherwise. 
• Bikes #1-10 are blue, 3-speed bikes; bikes #11-13 are yellow, single-speed bikes; bike #14 is a yellow, 7-speed bike; bikes #15 and #16 are blue, single-speed bikes.
  • Seat adjustments to bikes #11-14 require the use of an Allen wrench at the Bike Fixit Station; all the other bikes have self-adjusting seats.
• When locking a bike to the rack, the lock loop should be placed around a tire and NOT around the spokes, which can damage the wheel if the bike falls while locked to the rack.
• There is a $50 charge if a bike key is returned but the bike is not found locked to the Bike Share rack after use.
