The wireless network in Jenson-Noble has been upgraded. The upgraded network features 802.11AC (Wifi 5) support in all areas and 802.11AX (Wifi 6)support in high usage areas. The coverage density has also been increased. This will result in stronger coverage and faster speed throughout the building.
Update 8/6/19 - The upgrade is complete. Faculty, staff, and students may visit linkedinlearning.luther.edu to sign in to LinkedIn Learning with their Norse Key.
Luther currently subscribes to LyndaCampus. On Tuesday, August 6, LyndaCampus will be upgraded to LinkedIn Learning. Once the upgrade is complete, when signing in, each individual will have the option to connect their LinkedIn account, if they so desire. LinkedIn Learning has the same great content as Lynda.com, and it will provide a more personalized experience.
ITS has planned equipment moves in the server room tonight that will require several servers to be shut down for a brief period while they are moved to a new location in the room.
Update I've encountered additional difficulties in the upgrade and have had to revert back to the existing router. The network is back to functioning again. Another attempt at doing the upgrade will be scheduled for a future time to be announced.
ITS is planning maintenance on the network in Olin on Friday, April 19, between 9 AM and approximately 1 PM.
ITS is planning maintenance on the network in Olin on Tuesday, March 26, between 5 PM and approximately 8 PM. During this time both the wired and wireless networks in the building will be unavailable. This maintenance will allow for the installation of a new building router and a faster link between the Olin network and the rest of the campus network. The wireless in the Facilities Services building has been upgrade from 802.11n to 802.11ac service. This will provide additional speed for connections in that building.
Luther has purchased a 3-year subscription of the campus-wide Lynda.com product called LyndaCampus. All faculty, staff, and students should visitlynda.luther.eduand sign in with their Norse Key username and password to access this wonderful service. As they say on their website, “Learn a new skill online, on your time. 6,401 courses in Business, Technology and Creative Skills taught by industry experts.”
An additional wireless access point has been added in the Regents Center to improve the strength of the wireless network near the racquetball courts and in the golf room.
