Sexual Assault Awareness Month at Luther College

According to the U.S. Department of Justice, one in four women and one in six men will be sexually assaulted in their lifetime. Luther College invites the Decorah community to join in participating throughout the month of April in Sexual Assault Awareness Month, an event that raises public awareness of sexual violence and educates communities on its prevention.

Luther students go big in mock trial

The Luther College Mock Trial team qualified for the Opening Round Nationals March 14-16 in Waukegan, Ill. To advance to national competition, teams must place in the top eight out of 24 in their regional contest.

Anne Rasmussen to present lecture at Luther College

From the end of former President of Indonesia Haji Muhammad Suharto's "New Order" through the era of "Reformation," ethnographic research has allowed the powerful role of music in Indonesian religious nationalism to come to light. Author and professor of ethnomusicology Anne Rasmussen will present a Sihler Lecture on women, music and Qur'anic recitation in Indonesia at 4:30 p.m. Friday, April 11, in Room 102 of the F.W. Olin Building on the Luther campus.

'Japanese Overlay' by Mary Zeran

'All Things Beautiful'

An art exhibit featuring abstract acrylic paintings by Iowa artist Mary Zeran will be on display April 1-May 25 in Luther College's Center for Faith and Life Gallery, on the upper level of the building. The 17 abstract collages displayed in the exhibit "All Things Beautiful" feature cheerful colors and undulating brushstrokes on a variety of surfaces.

Gerhard Marcks

Marcks works presented at Luther College

Over the course of World War II, thousands of valuable artworks were lost, either through willful destruction or as collateral damage. Many works were lost even through the oppression of artists. An exhibit titled "Gerhard Marcks: Woodcuts from the Fine Arts Collection," featuring works created by Gerhard Marcks, an artist living in Germany at the time of the Nazi regime, will be on display April 7-May 25 in Preus Library on the Luther College campus.

Luther to host solar heating workshop March 29

According to a recent report by the U.S. Energy Information Administration, heating bills for U.S. households using propane, heating oil, natural gas and electricity are expected to rise significantly in relation to last winter.
