Relationship expert and body image specialist Megan Stubbs will present the program "The F Word, Understanding Fat and Body Image" at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 18, in Luther College's Valders Hall of Science Room 206. Co-sponsored by Luther's SAC Impact committee and Luther Wellness, the cost of admission is $5.
Stubbs will lead participants in discussion about the influence that social media, cultural standards and diet-based companies have on body image. She will illustrate instances of degrading self-talk and help strategize individual improvement of self-esteem. Stubbs' goal is to engage with audiences in an informative and enjoyable manner and guide them with realistic steps for a better perception of their own bodies.
Stubbs' modern insight on healthy emotional and sexual relationships contributes to her success as a speaker and as a writer. In addition to her work as a staff writer for Women's Lifestyle Magazine, she has been showcased across multiple media platforms including Teen Vogue, Cosmopolitan, Muscle & Fitness, and Men's Journal. Stubbs has presented on numerous college campuses including recently at Dominican University and the University of Michigan. Active on social media, she has written numerous blog posts and presented several webinars. She consistently receives praise from her student audience on her charisma and intellect on uncomfortable or quarrelsome topics.
