Luther College to host Chris Kienke artist talk and gallery reception

Internationally renowned artist Chris Kienke will present an artist's talk regarding his exhibit "You Promised Me Poems" at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 26, in the Luther College Center for the Arts, Room 203. A gallery reception featuring Kienke’s works will be held at 4 p.m. Friday, April 27, in the Kirstin Wigley-Fleming Fine Arts Gallery in the Center for the Arts.

Both events are open to the public with no charge for admission.

Kienke will present a slide presentation at the artist talk on how he arrived at his current work. Attendees will be able to follow his life journey from his undergraduate time at Kansas City Art Institute through a presentation of his artworks and influences over the years. There will be time for questions from the audience.

"You Promised Me Poems," is on display through Friday, April 27, in the Kristin Wigley-Fleming Fine Arts Gallery.

Kienke received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Illustration from the Kansas City Art Institute, and a Master of Fine Arts in Painting from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale. He currently serves on the faculty of the School of Art and Design at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
