Luther students receive U.S. Senate summer internships

Luther College's Geoffrey Dyck, junior, and Anna Phearman, sophomore, have received summer internships from the Office of the Secretary of the United States Senate. The pair will have the opportunity to work alongside Secretary of the Senate Julie E. Adams, Luther class of 1999.

Dyck, son of Tim and Sarah Dyck of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, is a 2014 graduate of John F. Kennedy High School. He is majoring in political science at Luther.

Phearman, daughter of Scott and Gina Phearman of Watertown, Minnesota, is a 2015 graduate of Watertown-Mayer High School. She is majoring in political science at Luther.

As part of the internship, Dyck and Phearman will build work experience while learning about the Senate, legislative procedures, and day-to-day operations of the U.S. Congress. They will also attend lectures and tours, and complete other educational activities as part of the internship. The offices under the secretary of the Senate provide legislative, financial and administrative support to senators as well as the entire Senate community.
