Nov. 10, 2009

Luther College has announced the names of six students who will be spending the 2010 spring semester in an internship in Washington, D.C., as part of the Lutheran College Washington Semester (LCWS) program.

The Luther students selected for the program are juniors Alixandra Cowmeadow, Rebecca Kohnert, Rachel Leoffler-Kemp, Anna Rick, Alynia Shilts and Steven Thai.

The LCWS, founded in 1986, is designed to provide a quality residential semester for students in Washington, D.C.  The small, personalized program allows students to live, study and intern while earning academic credit from their home institutions.

In addition to the three founding colleges, Muhlenberg, Gettysburg and Roanoke, Luther College is one of 10 additional colleges who are now members of the LCWS.

Students participating in the program attend internships four days a week in various businesses, including congressional offices, non-profit organizations, court systems and numerous other agencies.

Students of all academic majors are invited to participate in the program.
