Food Box Program Coordinator

The Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection is seeking an Economic Development Consultant to work as a Farm to School/Institution Director within the Wisconsin Ag and Food Center in the Division of Agricultural Development. Gardener-in-Residence

The Gardener-in-Residence (GiR) will teach garden classes to a diverse, 4K-5 th grade student population in school gardens. Following best practices in the field of garden-based education, the Gardener-in-Residence serves as the primary garden instructor at four school gardens, providing garden lessons to classes in spring and fall. The GiR collaborates with school administration, staff, students and families to ensure the school garden serves as a thriving teaching resource to the school community. During the summer months, the GiR develops and leads engaging gardening, cooking, and art activities for Madison area youth at Troy Gardens Day Camp on Madison’s northside.

Education and Outreach Corps Member

The AmeriCorps Education and Outreach Corpsmember (ages 18-25) will provide communication, education and outreach assistance with the Monarch Joint Venture, of which the US Fish and Wildlife Service is a partner. The Corpsmember will assist with planning development workshops for teachers and educators and assist with outreach activities and special events aimed at increasing awareness of the Monarch Joint Venture program. The Corpsmember will create and implement strategic social media campaigns and assist with writing blog entries on topics such as monarch populations, as well as help with general program development and support.

Youth Outdoors School and Community Forest Crew Members

AmeriCorps Youth Outdoors School and Community Forest Members will participate in on-the-job training to learn natural resource management and forestry skills, and put those skills into practice completing work at School Forest and Community Forest sites in Minnesota. Community Forest projects involve working with project partners to complete tree plantings in 12 communities across Minnesota, mainly during the spring and fall. School Forest projects involve working with the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources and other project partners to complete site renovation and training at designated School Forest sites across the state. The crew will use natural resource and forestry management techniques to improve outdoor classroom sites and provide training to site stewards, facility managers, teachers and community partners. The crew will also engage students at school forest sites by providing environment education and leading the students in service-learning projects. The majority of project work will take place in School Forests.

Youth Outdoors Crew Member

AmeriCorps Youth Outdoors Members (ages 18-25) perform natural resource restoration projects with a crew of their adult peers and engage Twin Cities youth in after-school service projects and environmental education. In spring and fall, corpsmembers lead crews of Twin Cities’ youth participants (ages 15-18) in environmental education and community service projects after school and on Saturdays. In summer, crews complete natural resource restoration projects and/or lead youth crews. Corpsmembers inspire youth, conduct community outreach and restore habitat in partnership with resource management agencies, working alongside conservation professionals.

FairShare CSA Coalition supports and connects community supported agriculture (CSA) farmers and consumers.
