Luther College to host lecture by author Philip Ackerman-Leist

Philip Ackerman-Leist, farmer, author and Green Mountain College associate professor, will present "Rebuilding the Foodshed: Remapping Our Expectations for the Food We Share," a lecture on local food systems at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 30, in Room 206 of the Valders Hall of Science on the Luther College campus.

'Earth Democracy: Justice, Sustainability and Peace'

One of the world's most respected environmental activists and feminists, Vandana Shiva, will present a Luther College Distinguished Lecture titled, "Earth Democracy: Justice, Sustainability, and Peace," at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26, in the Center for Faith and Life Main Hall on Luther's campus. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. and the lecture is open to the public with no charge for admission.

Luther College Rideshare program expands to Graceland University: Recent computer software program developed by Luther professor and student

In 2009, the Luther College student senate began exploring the possibility of a Rideshare program accessible to students on campus. The goal was to provide a program that allowed students to share rides with other students who were going to the same destination. To make it affordable, the idea was presented to computer science professor Brad Miller. Together with Luther student Kevin Williams, Miller developed an online program in which to coordinate rides via the website
