Not only does the federally funded program help first-generation and income-eligible students access financial aid and career advice, it also provides a strong support system on campus to guide students through their college careers and launch them into the next stages of their lives.Â
Elizabeth Steding, Luther College professor of German, published GDR Literature in German Curricula and Textbooks: Exploring the Legacy of GDR Authors, 1985-2015. âI have been intrigued by the GDR since I was in college, and textbooks play an important role in my life as a teacher, so this project really combines two interests of mine,â said Steding.
âAthletics is what brought me to Luther,” said Dennis Birkestrand. “They showed an interest in me when I was a high school player, and without that, I probably wouldnât have gone to college. I feel strongly about encouraging Luther to always have a very strong athletic program.â
Gifts made on Nov. 16 will be matched dollar-for-dollar by more than $130,000 in matching funds pledged by One Team Day challenge sponsors. In 2022, Luther raised $310,000 from more than 1,100 donors on One Team Day.
Hundreds of student musicians in seven ensembles will perform. One of the selections, a new choral and orchestral arrangement of “Angels We Have Heard on High,” was commissioned for Luther College and created by the acclaimed composer Dan Forrest.
Luther College has shifted its Homecoming dates to October 25-27, 2024.
The framework addresses the collegeâs need to expand its reach, align its resources and strengthen its organization.
Luther Collegeâs Center Stage Series and Student Activities Council will kick off a year-long celebration of the 40th anniversary of the Asian Students and Allies Association (ASAA) at Luther with performances by internationally-recognized musicians Wu Fei and Abigail Washburn and comedian Aiko Tanaka
Luther College student Clara Wodny, class of 2024, won a $2,000 Study Abroad Scholarship from Sigma Tau Delta, the English Honor Society. Wodny is currently studying away at the University of Nottingham in England.
The Acting Company, the countryâs premier touring classical theatre company, will present Odyssey at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 26 in the Center for Faith and Lifeâs Main Hall. It will be the second performance of Luther Collegeâs Center Stage Series for 2023â24.
