Luther College professor Weldon nominated for Pushcart Prize
Luther College professor of English Amy Weldon was nominated by the literary magazine "The Hopper," for a Pushcart Prize for her story "The Serpent."

The Pushcart Prize, started in 1976, is intended to honor the best of the many small presses and journals in the current literary landscape and has been named among the most influential projects in the history of American publishing by "Publishers Weekly." Publication in "The Pushcart Prize: Best of the Small Presses," an annual anthology, is awarded annually for works of poetry, fiction and creative nonfiction published by literary magazines or small presses during the previous year.
Weldon received her Bachelor of Arts in English and journalism from Auburn University and her Master of Arts and Ph.D in English from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Weldon is the author of several books, including "The Hands-on Life: How to Wake Yourself Up and Save The World," "The Writer's Eye: Observation and Inspiration for Creative Writers" and "Eldorado, Iowa: A Novel." Currently, she is working on her latest novel, "Creature," which is based on the life of author Mary Shelley.
