Student Employment

Positions are available during the academic year in a number of departments in Preus Library. Applications for all positions are available throughout the year at the Circulation Desk. Hiring is typically done in the spring semester for the following fall term.

The following departments routinely offer student assistant positions:

• Archives: assist in documenting, preserving, and making available the historic records of Luther College.
• Circulation Desk: check out and re-shelve library materials, handle a cash drawer, monitor a security gate entry system, answer the primary library phone number, respond to patron questions, and refer patrons to other staff as appropriate.
• Marketing/Events: provide support for planning, publicizing, and holding library events; engage with users on Library social media accounts.
• Technical Services/Interlibrary Loan: process and distribute interlibrary loan materials and media rentals, both for Luther and libraries to which we lend materials, and process new books, serials and periodicals
