Luther leveled its overall record to 4-4 thanks to an 86-79 victory over Cornell College this afternoon in the Regents Center. The Norse fell behind 6-0 but finished the first half leading 38-25 and never trailed the rest of the game.
Five Norse tallied double digits led by Jared Nicolaisen with 19 points. James Kappus had 13, while Gage Thompson, Ray Whitlock and Aaron Blumberg all chipped in 11.
The Norse shot 47.6% that included a 16-of-39 effort from behind the three-point line. The 16 treys matched the single game school record that was set against Central College, Nov. 29, 2017.
Defensively, Luther held the Rams to 38.7% that included a 6-of-25 performance from behind the arch. TJ Conner led the team with 19 points, followed by Michael Drew with 13 and Jan Siegien with 12.
Luther is off until Dec. 29-30 when it will play in the Naples Florida Shootout. The Norse will face Suffolk University (MA) on the 29th at noon, and Connecticut College on the 30th at 2:00 p.m. Both times are eastern standard time.
