Luther won its first of two matches this afternoon held in Rock Island, Ill. The Norse defeated UW-Oshkosh 6-3 and snapped their six-match losing streak. The win gives the Norse an overall record of 10-8.
Luther took a 3-0 lead after doubles and then split with Oshkosh in singles play. Four of the six singles matches were decided in three sets.
In doubles, Jackie Cychosz and Anna Pearson won at No. 1 (8-4). Devon Bourget and Kelsey Kruse posted an (8-5) win at No. 2, while Ellie Hemker and Britta Pressler won at No. 3 (8-0).
Pressler, Stephanie Almquist and Hemker all posted wins in singles. Pressler defeated Hannah Peters (2-6, 6-3, 10-4) at No. 3. Almquist also won in three sets at No. 5 over Lesley Kutnik (1-6, 6-4, 12-10). Hemker made quick work of her opponent Monica Micoliczyk at No. 6 (6-2, 6-2).
