Luther wrapped up its home schedule this afternoon splitting with the University of Dubuque. The Norse won game one 7-6 in 10 innings and the Spartans won game two 15-3.
In game one trailing the Spartans 6-2 entering the eighth, the Norse scored four runs on three hits and tied the game at 6-6. Bryce Hingst hit a two-run home run and Joe McKibben drove in two runs with a single.
In the tenth, Cole Jensen led-off with a pinch hit double. Following a sac bunt by McKibben that moved Jensen to third, Jake Vogt drove in the game winner with a single to left field.
In the nightcap, Dubuque scored 15 runs on 19 hits and scored in every frame except the first two of this seven inning game. Luther scored a run in the first, third and fourth frames thanks to six hits. Trent Athmann, Hingst and McKibben were all credited with an RBI.
The split gives Luther an Iowa Conference record of 11-6, 21-10 overall. Dubuque is now 9-5 in the IIAC, 14-15 overall.
Luther will travel to Nebraska Wesleyan University this Friday and Saturday, April 27-28. Friday's game (1x9) will begin at 3:00 p.m. and Saturday's twin bill (2x9) will start at Noon.
