No. 10 Luther wrapped up the regular season Iowa Conference schedule with a sweep of Buena Vista University in Storm Lake. Luther posted victories of 8-0 (5) and 4-3.

In game one, the Norse pounded out 11 hits, but also had a lot of help from the Beavers, as they committed six errors that caused all eight runs to be unearned.

Kelsey Rose led the attack going 4-for-4 with three RBI. Rose, who scored twice, drove in two runs in the fourth with a double to center field and drove in a run in the fifth with an infield single. Kristen Winter also had a multiple hit game going 2-for-4 and driving in two runs. Lindsey Uphoff, who was 1-for-3, scored twice.

Becca Girvan improved to 15-3. Girvan allowed two hits and struck out nine of the 21 batters she faced.

Miranda McCay at second. McCay started the frame with a double, but was not able to advance following fly outs by Kayla Hatting and Rose. Following a Carli Radil walk, Winter singled that scored McCay.

The Norse took a 3-1 lead in the top of the sixth thanks to RBI singles by Katie Wieland and Paige Lobdell. The Beavers tied the game with a two-run home run in the bottom half of the inning.

Topanga Skiles (7-2) got the win. Skiles allowed three runs on two hits, walked four and struck out two. Girvan picked up her second save of the year.

Box Score

The two wins gives Luther a league record of 10-4, 27-6 overall. The Norse finished the regular season in a three-way tie for second place and have now won 10 in a row.

Luther will travel to Coe College next week for the six-team Iowa Conference Tournament that will be held May 1-3.
