The annual Luther - Wartburg dual was held last night in Waverly, Iowa. Wartburg won the meet 139-63.
Luther had a number of all-time top-10 performances. Morgan Sammons, who finished second in the 100 meter hurdles, posted a time of :15.48 that ranks eighth all-time. Sarah Holtz won the high jump with a winning height of 5-4 1/2. This mark ranks tied for sixth all-time with Barb Wagamon (1991) and Leah Broderick (2014). Noelle Drapeau won the pole vault at 9-6 1/4. She moved into the sixth spot all-time with this height. Jenna Iverson remained fifth all-time in the hammer throw, but improved her career mark to 131-1 from 127-9.
First place finishes were also recorded by Kaia Bierman in the 1500 meters (4:49.84), Meredith Robinson in the 3,000 steeplechase (12:34.29), and Anneliese Barton in the javelin (108-9).
Next weekend the Norse will travel to Central College for the 2018 Iowa Conference Championships. The women's heptathlon will begin on May10, with the rest of the meet taking place May 11-12.
