Luther remained unbeaten in the Iowa Conference defeating Loras College 9-0 this afternoon at home. The Norse swept doubles dropping just seven games and went on to win five of six singles matches in straight sets.
In doubles, the No. 1 duo of Claire Christian and Jackie Cychosz remained unbeaten (3-0) in league play posting an 8-1 decision over Audry Hinz and Ayla Graziano. At No. 2, Anna Pearson and Britta Pressler are also (3-0) in league play after defeating Emma Cooke and Bri Eighme 8-2. The No. 3 doubles team of Devon Bourget and Kelsey Kruse improved to (4-0) in IIAC play, posting an 8-4 win over Erin McGivern and Francesca Roche.
In singles, Cychosz, Christian, Pressler, Bourget and Stephanie Almquist all won in straight sets. Kruse won a third set tie breaker 10-5 to secure the sweep.
The victory gives Luther an overall record of 5-1, 5-0 in the Iowa Conference. Loras fell to 4-3 in league play, 7-3 overall.
Luther returns to action this Saturday, Sept. 30, when it will travel to Wartburg College for a 10:00 a.m. match.
