Provost Selection Updates
We are pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Jeffrey Wilkerson as interim provost, effective February 7, 2025. Dr. Wilkerson currently serves as professor of physics, chair of the Faculty Interests Committee, and chair of the Enrollment and Communications Advisory Board. He previously served as associate dean for six years in the Dean’s Office (now the Provost’s Office). The interim appointment will continue until the arrival of a permanent provost, which is anticipated to occur in June 2025 following the conclusion of a national search.
Jeff has been instrumental in supporting Luther’s efforts in academic planning, student success, and accreditation over several decades, and his recent work has advanced areas of mutual concern among the faculty, the Provost’s Office, Admissions, and Marketing and Communications. He will serve as a capable and effective partner to Dean Currey, Dean Elliott, and Interim Dean Watson, allowing them to maintain focus and ensure momentum on strategic initiatives in Academic Affairs, Student Success, and Student Engagement, respectively. Moreover, his long service to the college and high regard among faculty, staff, and students will enable him to provide a trusted, knowledgeable, and steadying presence in the Provost’s Office during a time of transition.
We are fortunate and grateful for Jeff’s willingness to serve in this new capacity. Please join us in thanking and congratulating him.
