New LCSecure Wireless Network

A new LCSecure SSID has been created on our campus wireless network. The network registration process has been modified to aid users in connecting their devices to the new network. The new network uses WPA2 Enterprise encryption to encrypt data as it travels between a user's computer and the wireless access point that it's connected to. Because student move-in is rapidly approaching, we're implementing this first for student devices and also devices personally owned by faculty and staff. In the coming weeks we will work to get college-owned faculty and staff computers connected to the LCSecure Wireless network as well.

Network Upgrade

Miller Hall Network Upgraded

This evening I installed a new router for the Miller Hall wireless network. Previously Miller shared a router with Dieseth. This upgrade also enabled us to start using the newly installed fiber uplinks to individual floors. This increases the bandwidth capacity of the network within the building, and finishes the installation of the new wireless network in Miller that was started last spring.
