Luther College alumna Vanessa (Grima Baldacchino) Frazier, Malta's ambassador to Belgium, will present the college's Spring Convocation Address at 9:40 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 31 in the Center for Faith and Life Main Hall on the Luther campus.

Barbizon prints on display at Luther College Feb. 8-March 22

Art students at Luther College have curated a show from more than 160 Barbizon prints given to Luther during the past year. The exhibit, "The Barbizon School: An Invented France, " is on display Feb. 8-March 22 at the Kristin Wigley-Fleming Fine Arts Gallery in Luther's Center for the Arts.

Symphony Orchestra to perform homecoming concert Feb. 3

The Luther College Symphony Orchestra will present a tour homecoming concert of works by Wagner, Elgar and Tchaikovsky at 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 3 in the Center for Faith and Life, 700 College Drive, Decorah, as the last stop on their January 2013 tour.

Timed to coincide with the United States Presidential inauguration, Philip Freeman's book "How to Run a Country: An Ancient Guide for Modern Leaders" will be released Jan. 22. Freeman, Luther College Orlando W. Qualley Chair of Classical Languages, translates the political wisdom of Marcus Cicero in this, his latest book.

Professor Marv Slind to lecture on 'The Race to the South Pole'

Marvin Slind, Luther College professor of history, will give the presentation "Scott and Amundsen: The Race to the South Pole" at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15, in the F.W. Olin Building, Room 102. The presentation is in conjunction with an art exhibit currently on display in the Center for Faith and Life through Jan. 23.
