Luther College Jazz Orchestra to perform April 30

In recognition of Jazz Appreciation Month, the Luther College Jazz Orchestra, under the direction of Juan Tony Guzmán, will perform at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 30, in the Main Hall of the Center for Faith and Life on the Luther campus. The performance, part of the Jazz Orchestra's spring tour of the Upper Midwest, is open to the public with no charge for admission. The concert will be streamed live at: stream.luther.edu.

Luther College hosts tiny house workshop April 25

After hosting a lecture by "The Big Tiny" author Dee Williams last September, the Luther College Center for Sustainable Communities will host a workshop for local tiny house owners and enthusiasts Saturday, April 25, in Room 206 of Valders Hall of Science on the Luther College campus. The workshop is open to the public with no charge for admission, but registration is requested.

Luther College Jazz Band to perform April 29

The Luther College Jazz Band will present a concert at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 29, in the Main Hall of the Center for Faith and Life on the Luther campus. The concert is open to the public with no charge for admission. Jazz Band will feature two selections to honor the memory of Fred Sturm, a jazz educator, composer, arranger and friend of jazz at Luther, who passed away last year.

Diebel wins Inaugural Orchestral Performance Prize

Stephanie Diebel, Luther College senior from Western Springs, Illinois, was named the first recipient of the college's Richard C. and Joann M. Hemp Prize for Orchestral Performance. The prize, a $5,000 scholarship award, is funded through an endowment established by Richard, Luther class of 1964, and Joann (Harr) Hemp, Luther class of 1965.
