Faculty Artist Series: Luther's Martin, Reed and Whitfield to perform with guest artist Rondón

Luther College will host a Faculty Artist Series recital at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 15, in the Noble Recital Hall in the Jenson-Noble Music Hall on the Luther campus. Performers include Luther faculty Spencer Martin, Baroque violin; Kathryn Reed, harpsichord and organ; and Andrew Whitfield, baritone; guest artist Tulio Rondón performing on Baroque cello and viola da gamba; and the Luther College Collegium Musicum.

Luther to host Rasmussen lecture on 'Vocation and Sustainability'

The CIC-NetVUE regional conference on Interreligious Reflection on Vocation and Sustainability that was scheduled to be held at Luther College, Decorah, Iowa, March 7-8, has been canceled. Larry L. Rasmussen, Reinhold Niebuhr Professor Emeritus of social ethics at Union Theological Seminary, New York City, will still give the lecture "Vocation and Sustainability" at 7 p.m. Friday, March 7.

Luther College to host the 66th annual Dorian Band Festival

Luther College will host the 66th annual Dorian Band Festival March 2-3. High school band students, from approximately 125 schools, nominated by their high school directors come to stay on campus for the chance to experience Luther, rehearse with music faculty and perform in concert.

The $170,000 Carver grant will help purchase high-fidelity equipment to enhance Luther's existing simulation lab.

Luther College nursing department awarded $170,000 Carver grant

Luther College was awarded a $170,000 grant from the Roy J. Carver Charitable Trust to fund the purchase of high-fidelity simulation mannequins and their associated audio-visual components. The equipment will be used primarily in Luther's nursing department, though the college expects the simulation equipment will be useful in several other academic departments as well.

Luther College to host Concert Organist David Briggs Feb. 25

David Briggs, English composer and concert organist, will present an improvisation concert at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 25, in the Luther College Center for Faith and Life. As part of the concert, Briggs, who is making his second appearance at Luther, will improvise a score to accompany the 1925 silent film "The Phantom of the Opera." The performance is open to the public with no charge for admission.
