Greetings, Class of ’62,
Some time ago Mary (Frost) Steen called to ask if I had somewhere written on the topic of the Bible department meltdown in the spring of 1961. This was when we were juniors and fully conscious that something momentous was taking place. Now, after half a century, we can play the historian and sort things out. Many thought that our new president should know the major contour of these events for no other reason than that spring was the “fault line” between the old and the new Luther.
