Please join us in celebrating this milestone at Luther College Commencement on Sunday, May 25, starting at 9 a.m. in Carlson Stadium. The information below provides further details for your planning purposes. Note that plans are subject to change; please consult this web page and stay attuned to further communications.
Commencement Details
Commencement and Baccalaureate will be livestreamed on this web page as well as in the Dahl Centennial Union at Oneota Market (main level) and the Center for Faith and Life (CFL) Recital Hall.
In the event of inclement weather, the ceremony will be held in the Center for Faith and Life Main Hall. Tickets will be required to attend in this location. Parents and families are asked to reserve up to four tickets in advance, starting February 25, as part of their registration for Commencement.
If you have additional family members in attendance, they will be able to watch the ceremony from livestream locations on campus (Oneota Market in Dahl Centennial Union, Noble Recital Hall in the Jenson-Noble Hall of Music, Valders 206, and Olin 102). The livestream will also be accessible for remote viewing on this web page.
If the decision is made for an indoor ceremony, the college will inform faculty, staff, and students of the change via the #LutherAlert system. Families and the general public can find the information on this web page and on official Luther College social media.
At the Commencement ceremony, guests with mobility challenges and their families may sit on the Carlson Stadium track. There will also be a limited number of alternative seats for persons with mobility challenges and their families on the Dahl Centennial Union terrace. Contact the Ticket Office at (563) 387-1357 for more information.
Guests are asked to park in the Preus Library, Jenson-Noble Hall of Music, Regents Center, and Farwell Hall parking lots. Please avoid parking on streets and in faculty/staff parking lots.
Note that the Regents Center is currently undergoing construction that affects the roadways and parking in that area.
- Norse Way is closed to through traffic. Driving through between Regents and Farwell is not possible on Norse Way.
- General parking: The Regents Center parking lot is open, and a walkway through the construction is provided. The Farwell Hall parking lot is open for parking as well; access it from the south end of Luther Drive and Norse Way. Additional parking is available at Preus Library, Jenson-Noble Hall of Music, and other locations on the upper campus, from which you can walk down to Carlson Stadium.
Handicap accessible parking: The best locations for handicap accessible parking near Carlson Stadium are in the Farwell Hall entrance loop and next to the Regents Center parking lot. Look for signage upon arrival. Guests can also enter the field from these points for accessible seating. Ushers will be available to assist you.
Commencement Speaker Ine Eriksen Søreide
Ine Eriksen Søreide, the first woman to serve as Norway’s minister of foreign affairs, will give the Commencement address. “She brings a unique perspective on the value of community on the world stage from her time in roles as Norway’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and as ambassador to the U.N.,” said President Brad Chamberlain.
