Professor Emeritus John Moeller to give Luther Emeriti Colloquium on Nov. 8

Drawing connections between America’s favorite pastime and morality and culture, Luther College Professor Emeritus John Moeller will present a lecture at 3 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, in the Mott Room of the Dahl Centennial Union on Luther’s campus.

The event, titled “All I Really Need to Know I Learned from Baseball,” is open to the public with no charge for admission.

Moeller’s presentation will use stories from the world of baseball to explore such ideas as justice, community, the role of storytelling, continuity and changes, and the importance of play.

At Luther, Moeller taught courses at Luther from 1981 to 2017, primarily in the areas of law, political theory and environmental politics.

Moeller earned his bachelor’s degree in Slavic language and literature from Lawrence University and his master’s and doctoral degrees in political science from Duke University.

A national liberal arts college with an enrollment of 2,005, Luther offers an academic curriculum that leads to the Bachelor of Arts degree in more than 60 majors and pre-professional programs. For more information about Luther visit the college’s website: http://www.luther.edu.
