Luther junior Burniece to present a piano recital

Luther College junior Joshua Burniece of Burnsville, Minnesota, will present a piano recital at 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 30, in the Noble Recital Hall in Luther’s Jenson-Noble Hall of Music.

The performance is open to the public with no charge for admission.

Burniece, son of Bruce and Belinda Burniece of Burnsville, graduated from Lakeville South High School in 2016; he plans to graduate from Luther in 2020 with a Bachelor of Arts in music. Burniece is the student of Du Huang, Luther professor of music.

Burniece’s setlist includes Chopin’s Revolutionary Étude, Brahms’s Variations on an Original Theme, Op. 21 No.1, and Bach’s Prelude and Fugue in C Major, BMV 870.

Luther is home to one of the largest collegiate music programs in the nation with five choirs, three bands, three orchestras, two jazz bands and more than 800 student musicians. Luther students participate in large ensembles, faculty-coached chamber groups, private lessons and master classes. More than 275 music majors study music theory, ear training, history, education, composition, jazz, church music and performance.
