Biography

Education: B.M., Piano Performance, Brigham Young University

Camille Balleza, a second-generation Filipino-American pianist from Oregon, holds the position of Staff Collaborative Pianist at Luther College.

Ms. Balleza was a New Horizons Fellowship recipient for Collaborative Piano at the Aspen Music Festival and has also studied on scholarship at the Brevard Music Festival, Bowdoin International Music Festival, and the International Music Academy Pilsen. She has served as the Associate Pianist for the National Children’s Chorus in Washington, D.C., and has performed
with instrumentalists and vocalists in venues throughout the United States, including the Kennedy Center, the White House, the Music Center at Strathmore, and Carnegie Hall. As a soloist, Ms. Balleza has performed as a concerto competition winner with the Utah Valley Symphony and the Brigham Young University Philharmonic Orchestra.

Ms. Balleza has been working as a music director in the creative team for Summer at Santa Catalina in Monterey, CA, since 2022, teaching girls in grades 4-9 in the musical theater program. Prior to joining the staff at Luther, she worked at Wartburg College as an adjunct faculty in collaborative piano.

Her teachers include Rita Sloan, Scott Holden, Jeffrey Shumway, and Cherise da Cunha.

Outside of music, Ms. Balleza enjoys hiking, cortados, and creating wheel-thrown pottery. She has served as the ceramics studio technician at the Hearst Center for the Arts in Cedar Falls, IA, and has worked as a member of the cooperative studio Peninsula Potters in Pacific Grove, CA.
