Guest Performance: Bakken Trio, "Nadia"

  • Date: Thursday, September 27, 2018
  • Time: 7:30 pm
  • Location: Center for Faith and Life, Recital Hall

Music and drama combine in a new performance about Nadia Boulanger. It's been said that no one had a more powerful influence shaping the music of the twentieth century. This performance asks what makes a teacher great? Why was Nadia called “the most influential teacher since Socrates”, “midwife to genius”? Actress/singer Tammy Hensrud stars as Nadia Boulanger, sharing with us memories of her life triggered by the chamber music of Copland, Piazzola, Bach, Quincy Jones, and her beloved sister Lili, while Stephanie Arado, violin, Michael Kim, piano, share that music, woven into the story.
