Luther completed its trip to the PFX Spring Games in Clermont, Florida sweeping Colby College (ME) 17-1 in five innings and 3-0. The Norse finished the trip 11-0 and improved to 19-1.
In game one, the Norse tallied 16 hits and put crooked numbers on the score board in every inning but one. Natalie Stockman led the offensive attack going 2-for-2 and driving in four runs. Bailey Victoria and Lilly Johnson also had multiple RBI driving in two runs each.
Samantha Bratland (10-1) allowed one run on three hits and struck out nine.
In the nightcap, Luther scored all of its runs in the third frame. Anna Strien had two RBI and Bailey Hocker had the other. Strien was the lone Norse with a multiple hit effort going 2-for-4 and finished the afternoon 5-for-7 at the plate.
Ashley Burrows finished her day with a single. Combined with her two hits in game one, she increased her season total to 31 and she is now tied for Luther's career hit total with 206. Shari Huber held the record set during her playing career from 2010-13.
Courtney Cooper (7-0) went the distance in the circle. Cooper allowed three hits, walked three and struck out six.
The wins increased Luther's current win streak to 15 in a row.
The Norse will begin Iowa Conference play at home on Tuesday, April 3 when they will host the Duhawks of Loras College at 2:00 p.m.
