"The COVID-19 Pandemic: Stories of a Journey"

In celebration of the new Global Health major at Luther College, Campus Programming is pleased to announce this fall's Farwell Distinguished Lecture: Luther regent and renowned public health expert, Dr. Michael Osterholm '75. Dr. Osterholm will speak live via Zoom Webinar on Thursday, Oct. 15.

Dr. Osterholm is the director of the Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy (CIDRAP), Distinguished Teaching Professor in the School of Public Health, a professor in the Technological Leadership Institute, College of Science and Engineering, and an adjunct professor in the Medical School, all at the University of Minnesota. He has served as a Science Envoy for Health Security on behalf of the US Department of State, and been a frequent consultant to the World Health Organization (WHO), the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the Department of Defense, and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). Dr. Osterholm is the author of the New York Times best-seller, Deadliest Enemy: Our War Against Killer Germs, and sits on the Board of Regents at Luther College in Decorah, Iowa.

The program will begin with a welcome from President Jenifer K. Ward, and an introduction from Professor Scott Carlson. Following Dr. Osterholm's lecture, Professor Maryna Bazylevych Nading will host a Q&A featuring questions from Luther's Global Health students.
