In this brown-bag lunch conversation, Fr. Michael Lapsley, who founded South Africa’s Institute for Healing of Memories after losing both hands and an eye in a letter bomb attack, will be in conversation with Marina Cantacuzino, author, broadcaster, and founder of the UK-based nonprofit, The Forgiveness Project. Marina first met Fr. Michael in 2003 in South Africa while collecting personal stories of healing and forgiveness. Their work has crossed and overlapped ever since, and now, by chance, they both happen to be in Decorah at exactly the same time. In this conversation, the two will interview each other, unpacking themes encountered in Fr. Michael’s Institute and Marina’s book, “Forgiveness: An Exploration,” discussing the limits and possibilities of these most complex, slippery, but transformative concepts. Lunch participants will also be encouraged to join the conversation with questions and insights.
