This workshop combines future-literacy approaches and tools with small-group speculative design activities. The core prompts for imagining more just and robust futures include cultivating collectivity around food (ways, systems, agriculture, cuisine), in organizations (professional, nonprofit, local, global), and in practices of learning/teaching (schools, trades, crafts, arts, interdisciplinary practices). Anne Beate Hovind will guide the workshop with frameworks and objectives, and she’ll facilitate a full-group discussion of what the small-group work produces. Each group will customize their engagement with the prompt and follow Hovind’s lead to generate pragmatic actions–from designing a new app to proposing a built space or inter-community networks–towards aspirational goals that span beyond quarterly reports or individual human lifespans.
This workshop is free and open to all.
