Join Sara Russell, the 2022 Iowa Teacher of the Year, as she reflects on how teachers can facilitate compassionate, courageous, and collaborative education. Drawing on her more than 20 years in education, Sara will share stories and experiences of learning and growth, both for her students and for herself.

Learning is grounded in so much more than just standards and content. Courageous education starts when both students and teachers feeling safe and supported. With a strong and compassionate support structure in place, students and teachers alike are more free to step outside their comfort zones and productively struggle, knowing that the most valuable growth comes from the stumbles along the way.
